An effervescent twelve-strand necklace of "Rice Krispies" pearls makes a salty statement. The freshwater pearls are strung on silk and gathered together by a gorgeous decorative clasp, a baroque pearl set in a nest of 14k yellow gold. The beautiful slide clasp is finished with a safety latch and is marked "K14" on its back. This is the perfect accessory for sunning your fins on a coral reef while luring sailors to a watery grave. Circa 1980.

Solid nacre nucleated pearls were the first freshwater pearls cultivated by the Chinese, introduced to jewelry markets in 1981. These highly iridescent pearls were dubbed “Rice Krispies” pearls because they looked like the cereal, elongated and full of little surface wrinkles. “Rice Krispies” pearl jewelry was often known for its wonderful decorative clasps.

Details.....The necklace measures 25" long. The clasp measures 0.50" by 0.75". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of the charm.
