Hearts & Flowers Two Tone Romantic Wreath Band
This romantic wreath encircles the finger with symbols of everlasting love. Three bands of precious metal form the body of this delightful two tone ring. The center band is pierced palladium, engraved with alternating hearts and forget me not flowers. The outer bands are 14k yellow gold with a stepped edge. Such a beautiful and unusual wedding band, the two tone metal makes it versatile too. Circa 1940.
During the 1940s two tone jewelry was all the rage. Prior to the USA's involvement in WW2, platinum and white gold were the most common white precious metals used to achieve this look. During the war both platinum and the alloys used in white gold were reserved for the war effort, therefore palladium came to be used in jewelry instead. When we find a two tone jewel made with palladium this dates the piece easily to the first half of the 1940s.
