Iridescent Blue Jomaz 1950s Brooch

A vintage brooch with a lovely spray of stylized flowers, depicted in shades of iridescent blue. Aurora borealis rhinestones are set in silver tone costume metal, forming delicate blossoms like baby's breath. Cabochons of dreamy blue, with a moonstone-like schiller, are set in a row along one side. The back of the brooch is signed "Jomaz". Circa 1955. The Aurora Borealis effect on rhinestones and crystal was introduced in 1955 by Swarovski.

New York City based company Jomaz began in 1927 and ended in 1981. Designer Joseph Mazer, sometimes signing pieces Mazer or Jomaz, produced good quality and affordable copies of fine jewelry.
