Irresistible 18" Strand of Creamy Pearls with Chic Gold Clasp
This lucent strand of cultured pearls is irresistible, an especially attractive iteration of the classic fashion staple. Creamy pearls are freshly hand-knotted on white silk, then finished with a chic 14k gold box clasp. A safety latch has been added, just for good measure. Tasteful and perfect for any occasion. Circa 1960.
Pearls were first cultured in 1893 by Mikimoto. Cultured pearls are created by adding an irritant, such as a grain of sand or small bead, to a pearl oyster to encourage it to cover the irritant in nacre, thus creating a pearl.
Details.....The necklace is 18.5" long, and the pearls measure 8mm in diameter. The clasp is .38" wide. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on your vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of their charm.
