Classic 18" Mikimoto Cultured Pearl Necklace

Everyone needs a good strand of pearls. Mikimoto invented cultured pearls, they were the first and remain the best. This Princess length strand of Mikimoto cultured pearls are a glowing creamy white, hand knotted on white silk. The pearl-set sterling silver clasp bears the Mikimoto makers mark. This timeless strand of pearls is just the right length to wear alone or layered with other necklaces. Circa 1950.

Pearls were first cultured in 1893 by Mikimoto. Cultured pearls are created by adding an irritant, such as a grain of sand or small bead, to a pearl oyster to encourage it to cover the irritant in nacre, thus creating a pearl.

Details....The necklace measures 18" long and the pearls are 5mm. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on Vintage and Antique Jewels, we consider it a part of the charm.
