Gem Studded Kachina Pendant by A. Monte

A fabulous gem studded Kachina pendant by prominent Navajo artist Alvin Monte. The figural pendant is cast in sterling silver and set with amethyst, lapis lazuli, coral and the most stunning piece of turquoise. This excellent pendant hangs from a modern sterling silver box chain. The back of the pendant is signed by Alvin Monte. Circa 1990.

A Kachina is an ancestral spirit of the Pueblo Indians. There are more than 500 of these spirits, and they act as intermediaries between humans and the gods.

Alvin Monte is a self-taught silversmith from New Mexico. His work is informed by traditional Pueblo designs, executed with a symbolic and modern aesthetic.

Details.....The chain is 18" long. The pendant measures 2.17" by 0.74". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on antique and vintage jewelry, we consider it part of the charm.
