Palladium & 18k Retro Diamond Band
This elegant two-tone diamond band pairs 18k yellow gold and icy white palladium. Tiny diamonds are set in a panel of palladium across the top of the ring. Two gold bars cross the palladium, creating the illusion of a two-tone twist. The decorative top of the ring is layered over a tapered gold band. The perfect piece to bring some Retro glamour into your life. Circa 1940.
Two-tone jewelry was all the rage in the 1940s. Prior to the USA's involvement in World War II, platinum and white gold were the most common white precious metals used to achieve this look. During the war, platinum and the alloys used in white gold were reserved for the war effort; as a result palladium, a platinum group metal, came to be used in jewelry. When we find a two-tone jewel marked for palladium this easily dates the piece to the first half of the 1940s.
