A princess-length strand of luminous Akoya pearls. The nicely matched cultured pearls are hand-knotted on white silk and finished with a 835 silver bead clasp. The lovely clasp is engraved and set with a tiny pearl. Circa 1950.
Cultured pearls are created by adding an irritant, such as a grain of sand or small bead, to a pearl oyster to encourage it to cover the irritant in nacre, thus creating a pearl.
Details....The necklace is 18" long, the pearls measure 6.7mm in diameter. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on Vintage and Antique Jewels; we consider it a part of the charm.
