With four corner prongs, pinched shoulders and a shapely band, this solitaire setting is the perfect foil to the French cut gem's exquisite simplicity.

The French cut's origins can be traced to the 14th Century. The French cut is the natural evolution of the table cut; it is a relatively simple cut with a small number of facets, creating square or rectangular stones with a 'cross' pattern clearly visible in the crown.
