This Kalo "puffy" brooch is reminiscent of tropical blossoms. Sterling silver has been worked using repoussé techniques into the shape of stylized hibiscus flowers. The symmetry of this piece is so appealing. Circa 1930.
Kalo jewelry was well known for making "puffy" pins: slightly convex or "puffed out" saw-pierced forms of chased and repoussé cherries, flowers, pineapples, or arrangements of leaves and vines.
