Startling Yellow Uranium Glass Filigree Ring

This classic Art Deco filigree ring is set with a startling marquise of intense yellow uranium glass. The glass is prong-set in a navette of lacy 18k white gold filigree. Pretty pierced gallery and shoulders taper into a slender band, beautifully engraved with a floral design. This collectible cocktail ring radiates drama, demanding attention and sparking conversation. Circa 1920.

Uranium was added to decorative glass, creating a fluorescent effect. Uranium glass ranges in color between yellow to green, and it fluoresces bright green under ultraviolet light. Uranium glass was once made into a variety of items, but fell out of widespread use during the Cold War when the availability of uranium was sharply curtailed.
