Tender blades of grass, modeled in sterling silver, are set with three white cultured pearls. This brooch is delicate and tasteful. The back of the piece bears the Mikimoto maker's mark. Circa 1950.
Pearls were first cultured in 1893 by Mikimoto. Cultured pearls are created by adding an irritant, such as a grain of sand or small bead, to a pearl oyster to encourage it to cover the irritant in nacre, thus creating a pearl.
Details....The brooch measures 2.35" by 0.36", and the pearls are approximately 5.7mm in diameter. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on Vintage and Antique Jewels; we consider it a part of the charm.
