Wonderful Witchy Art Nouveau Locket

Weird and wonderful Art Nouveau elements are present in this lovely rosy gold filled locket. Stylized themes from nature and romantic feminine motifs are rendered in ebullient whiplash lines. Repoussé metal working techniques give this piece its three-dimensional quality. The front of the locket features a woman's face. She is wearing a giant iris as a hat. She has a very interesting face with intense eyes, string nose, full lips and a cleft chin. Her wild wavy hair is cut in a bob, unusual for the era. She looks witchy, like a wild faery. The iris is studded with three white paste stones. The back of the locket is engraved with a swirling monogram that probably reads "GRH." The frames are intact with photos of a family inside. The clasp is nice and tight. Circa 1890.

Details.....The gold filled chain is 20" long. The locket measures 1.2" across. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of the charm.
