English 18ct Gold "Eye" Band with Opal & Diamond

A handsome English ring with opal and diamond, set in a tapered 18ct gold band. The small opal sits at the center of an eye-shaped groove, like the pupil of a sorceress in the throws of a wild vision. Two twinkly little diamonds flank the opal. An engraved step frames the groove, like the edge of an eye lid. The band is sensually curved, with that glossy glow we love in old gold. "Eye" shaped bands were very popular at the turn of the 20th Century; it's an elegant, easy-to-wear style that is flattering to the finger. This band bears hallmarks for Birmingham, England, 18ct, and the year 1897. 

Details.....Currently a size 8.5. The top of the ring measures 15.8mm by 6.8mm and the band is 2.2mm wide. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should expect all vintage and antique jewels to show some wear; we consider it part of their charm.
