Aesthetic Movement Engraved Silver Link Necklace

This sterling silver book chain is a wonderful example of Victorian Aesthetic Movement fashion. The book chain's links are engraved with flowers and flourishes, and are embellished with silver beads along the edges. Each ornate link is connected by a silver ring. A bolt ring clasp fastens the piece, which also allows you to easily display any pendant, locket or fob you like. Gorgeous, this book chain is especially beautiful and well made. Circa 1860.

The term "book chain" comes from the folded flat links' resemblance to the cover of a book. It is also said these flat chains were often used to mark a place in a book.

Details.....The chain is 16.5" long and .50" wide. In Very Good Antique Condition. In vintage and antique pieces small imperfections are to be expected and considered part of their charm.
