These early 19th Century brooches are commonly referred to as Prince of Wales; they display locks of hair meticulously curled into a design of three feathers gathered by a crown, the symbol of the Price of Wales.

This one is particularly lovely. Each lock of hair a different color and the "crown" is a row of three seed pearls. This work of art is picked out in hair and natural pearls on a mother of pearl background, and sealed under a heavy piece of rock crystal. The setting is 12k and 14k gold and silver, with grey and white pearls set in pinched collets. The gold bubble back is complete with its original extra long pin and chain with spiral safety stick pin. Dating from the late Georgian period, in amazing condition for its age.

Details.....The brooch measures 1.33" by 1.68". The pin measures 1.81" long, the length of the pin helps date a piece. The longer pins are earlier, as they are meant to be tucked several times thru hand woven fabric. In Excellent Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces; we consider it part of the charm.
