Sentimental Victorian Woven Hair Stud Earrings

Sentimental Victorian earrings, featuring ovals of woven brunette hair preserved under beveled glass. The hair and glass are set in 15ct gold and silver studs, with frames of gold rope work detail. These studs are so flat and comfortable you will want to wear them all of the time; however, avoid sleeping or showering in them. Circa 1860.

These fascinating earrings were made soon after the death of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's beloved consort. The Queen's impassioned mourning inspired a fashion for sentimental and mourning hair work jewels that persisted for decades.
