An Art Nouveau portrait of an exquisitely garbed young woman adorns this 14k gold pendant. She appears in profile, wearing extremely elaborate attire. A tress of hair escapes her colorful ... bonnet? Helmet? She wears either a dress or armor, highly detailed and parti-colored, with a white lily on the shoulder. Rose cut diamonds sparkle on her helm and at her breast. This portrait is depicted on a field of engraved gold. The round pendant is held in a scrollwork frame with a jump ring bale that will accommodate a bolt ring or dog clip, but we think she will look especially fine worn on a ribbon. This is thought to represent Joan of Arc, a simple French peasant girl who, believing she was acting under divine guidance, donned men's armor and led the French army in a victory that repulsed an English attempt to conquer France during the Hundred Years’ War. Circa 1900.
Details.....The pendant measures 1.33" by 1.41". In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces; we consider it part of the charm.
