Sweetest Sautoir Venetian Lampwork Bead Necklace

The sweetest sautoir necklace made of handmade Venetian lampwork beads. Baby blue ribbon glass beads and wedding cake beads decorated with pink, blue, green and glittering gold aventurine are knotted on pale blue silk. The beads are a variety of shapes: round, oval, ovoid disc, faceted oval and faceted barrel. Two long faceted barrel wedding cake beads have wonderful ornate silver tone bead caps. One of these beads has been broken and repaired, the seam is subtle but visible if you know where to look. Several clear blue faceted glass accent beads contrast with the opaque lampwork beads. A fetching example of the popular 1920s necklace.

Lampworking is a type of glasswork where a torch or similar heat source is used to melt the glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with tools. "Sautoir" is a French word for a long necklace that ends in a tassel or other ornament.

Details.....The wearable length of the necklace is 32" long, the tassel drop measures 6" long. The long barrel beads measure 10.9mm by 41.8mm. In Good Antique Condition as found, one barrel bead has been broken and repaired. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of their charm.
