Carved Jet & Golden Oval Link Chain by Ancient Influences

This dramatic chain marries bold golden links with curvaceous jet links. Squoval gold filled links form half of the necklace, while carved jet links form the other half. An oversized Victorian gold filled bolt ring forms the clasp. The bolt also allows you to add any pendant you like.

Jet was made popular in the mid Victorian period. Queen Victoria was in mourning for her husband for decades; as a result mourning attire became fashionable in society. The naturally black color of jet made it a logical material for use in the mourning jewelry worn at that time. Jet (petrified lignite coal) was mined in Whitby, England and the majority of jet jewelry from the 19th Century was made in England.

Details.....This chain is 22" long, The jet links measure 18.5mm by 26mm, the gold filled links are 10mm by 17mm and the bolt is 17mm wide.
