Diamond Encrusted Edwardian Platinum Filigree Pendant

The turn of the 20th Century saw an evolution in jewelry design with the introduction of platinum filigree. The strength of platinum lent itself perfectly to new openwork designs in which negative space was as important as the cut work and engraving. This pendant is a fine example of the style, enhanced with 4.37tcw of dazzling diamonds. A cut-corner rectangular plaque of platinum filigree is set at its heart with twin old European cut diamonds in hexagonal heads. Twenty old European cut diamonds are bead set into the border of the plaque. The decorative hinged bale is designed to integrate perfectly with the pendant; it is gracefully arched at the top and set with seven little accent diamonds. Exquisite milgrain engraving frosts the filigree, creating an icy glitter. This exceptional piece hangs on a modern cable chain of recycled platinum. Circa 1910.

This necklace comes with an insurance replacement cost appraisal. The appraisal is done by an independent gem lab. The appraised value is $11600.

Diamond Details.....The two center diamonds are each 0.26ct old European cuts with VS1-2 clarity and G-H-I color range. Twenty old European cut accent diamonds have a combined weight of 3.69cts with a VS-SI clarity and H-I-J color range. Seven round brilliant and single cut accent diamonds have a combined weight of 0.16ct with a SI-I clarity and H-I-J color range. The total diamond weight of this pendant is 4.37cts.

Details.....The pendant measures 0.96" by 1.65" with bale. The chain is 18" long. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on your vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of their charm.
