Delicate rayed and frosted camphor glass set in an ornate 14k white gold necklace. The rectangular glass is displayed in a navette-shaped frame of pierced and engraved filigree. A tiny diamond sits at the center of the pendant, twinkling in an engraved white gold lozenge. A lacy floral filigree element connects the pendant to its white gold chain. Circa 1920.
Camphor glass was developed in the 1920s to be used in place of the more expensive rock crystal popular at the time. Camphor glass is made by treating clear glass with hydrofluoric acid vapors to achieve the signature frosted finish.
Details.....The necklace has a wearable length of 16". The pendant measures .64" by 1.24", 1.60" long with the connecting element. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on your vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of their charm.
