This exciting German necklace attributed to Fahrner beautifully embodies the groundbreaking aesthetic of the Art Deco period. A pendant of articulated sterling silver panels is enameled in a matte bronze color and embellished with corded wire. Amazonite and lapis lazuli stones are set in the pendant, with marcasite accents. This fabulous pendant is finished with a decorative bale that hangs on a chain of engraved sterling links. Fahrner jewels similar to this piece appear in the book Theodor Fahrner Jewelry: Between Avant-garde and Tradition, and this necklace is a particularly fine example. The chain and pendant are not signed by Fahrner, they are marked "Sterling" and "Germany." Fahrner was producing jewels in this specific style from 1927 to 1929.
