French Carnelian & Marcasite Lorgnette Necklace

What could be more chic than French Art Deco? This fabulous lorgnette pendant is a fine example, a clever marriage of beauty and utility. The pendant is a sterling silver lozenge elaborately pierced and engraved with a geometric floral motif. A glossy red carnelian design is inlaid in silver, and dark-sparkling marcasites frost the fine metalwork. The spectacles spring into action with the press of a small release button. The marcasite-set bale suspends the piece from a long sterling silver curb chain. "Made in France" is stamped on the bridge of the spectacles. Never lose your readers again. Circa 1920.
