This original Pinchbeck chain dates from the late Georgian period, circa 1820. The gorgeous engraved rolo links fasten with a decorative clasp of drilled banded agate. An extremely clever locking watch hook moves freely on the chain. With so many ways you can wear this long antique necklace, it's as versatile as it is beautiful.
Pinchbeck is a gold substitute invented in 1720 by Christopher Pinchbeck that remained popular until the mid-1800s. It is comprised completely of metal alloys that give the look of high-carat gold, without tarnish or color changes, that includes no gold at all.
Details.....The chain is 39" long, and the links measure 3.5mm wide. The clasp measures 11.1mm in diameter, and the hook is 22.6mm long. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces; we consider it part of the charm.
