Hypnotic "Pools of Light" Crystal Orbs & Drops Necklace

This "Pools of Light" necklace is a particularly special piece. Its undrilled rock crystal spheres graduate in size, each orb is caged in delicately engraved silver wire and linked by small rings. A fringe of three chandelier-style crystals hang from the necklace, suspended on "S" hooks that allow them to be removed should you choose. A hypnotic jewel that possesses incredible energetic and optical qualities. Circa 1920.

The 1920s saw a Chinoiserie craze: Chinese art, design, and fashion exerted a strong influence on the Western World. “Pools of Light“ rock crystal beads are a fascinating example, each glowing sphere is thought to contain a spark of Chi, the Chinese word for life force. The crystals may not be drilled or pierced lest the Chi escape. The undrilled crystal spheres act as convex lenses, flipping light upside down and casting beautifully diffused pools of light upon nearby surfaces.

Details.....The necklace is 18" long, the crystal orbs graduate from .47" to .77" in diameter, and the drops measure .48" by 1.66". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces, we consider it part of the charm.
