Nothing says the 1950s like a tasteful strand of graduated pearls. This matinee-length graduated pearl necklace has a pretty silver clasp. These cultured pearls are a glowing creamy white, hand-knotted on white silk. The dainty clasp is engraved and set with a single pearl. Just the right length to wear alone or layered with gold chains. Circa 1950.
Pearls were first cultured in 1893 by Mikimoto. Cultured pearls are created by introducing an irritant, such as a grain of sand or small bead, to a pearl oyster to encourage it to cover the irritant in nacre and thus create a pearl.
Details....The necklace measures 21" long. The pearls graduate from 3mm to 6.8mm. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it a part of the charm.
