A precious early Victorian locket in enameled gold and diamonds. The small 18k gold locket is covered, front and back, with guilloché enamel in a magnificent shade of arsenic green. Its front bears a sprig of flowers set with rose cut diamonds; its back bears a delicate gold acanthus leaf motif. Exquisite engraving covers the gold in superb detail. The interior is great condition, with a hinged picture frame. The locket has a decorative twisted gold bale that will allow it to be worn on a watch hook, try this on one of our Ancient Influences married chains. Circa 1840.
Guilloché enamel is a decorative technique in which a very precise, repetitive pattern is machine engraved into metal, then covered with a layer of translucent enamel. The intricate engraved geometric patterns are visible through the enamel.
Details.....The locket measures .77" in diameter, 1.03" with bale. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces, we consider it part of the charm.
