Three Strand Heishi & Rondel Shell Bead Necklace

Three supple strands of heishi shell beads are accented with spiny oyster rondel beads. The heishi beads are a pale ivory, while the spiny oyster beads are a rich, glossy reddish-brown. The beads are strung on a natural-tone, braided, and knotted textile. This necklace has no clasp; it fastens simply with a knot. Appealing textures and contrasting colors make this piece irresistible. Circa 1970.

Heishi are small disc or tube-shaped beads made of shells or stones. They originate with the Kewa Pueblo people of New Mexico.

Details.....The necklace is 30" long. The heishi beads measure 5mm in diameter, and the oyster beads are 6.4mm. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on your vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of the charm.
