Turquoise Tabs, Coral Tubes & Shell Heishi Bead Necklace

A long, colorful necklace of turquoise, coral, and shell beads. Tabs of natural turquoise nuggets and scarlet coral tube beads alternate with creamy white shell heishi beads. The necklace is finished with rocker-stamped sterling silver terminals and a hook and eye clasp. Circa 1960.

Heishi (meaning "shell") beads are small disc or tube-shaped beads made of shells or stones, traditionally cut, polished, and drilled by hand. They originate with the Kewa Pueblo, previously known as the Pueblo of Santo Domingo, people of New Mexico.

Details......The necklace is 41" long. The turquoise tabs range between 10.4mm and 22.2mm, the coral beads measure approximately 2.5mm in diameter, and the shell beads measure 5.4mm. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of the charm.
