Bright Blue Blossoms Celluloid Necklace

A garland of bright blue blossoms wreathes this vivacious Deco-era celluloid necklace. A swag of one dozen tropical blooms hangs from a blue celluloid cable chain; the six-petaled flowers are finely sculpted with tiny yellow centers. The choker-length piece fastens with a gold-filled spring ring clasp. Polynesian motifs were very popular in the 1920s and 30s, a lighthearted trend that influenced many elements of American popular culture.

Celluloid is a synthetic plastic initially used as a substitute for ivory and other expensive materials.
