The enamelling of this Murrle Bennett Arts & Crafts brooch is simply gorgeous. The sterling silver piece features two hearts, set head to head. Sweet little sprigs sprout around the hearts. Brilliant-blue and poison-green enamel flows over the brooch, embellished with bright red accents. The effect reminds us of an illuminated manuscript from the Middle Ages, an important influence on Arts & Crafts design. The brooch fastens with the c-clasp common to the era. Marked "MB&Co" for Murrle Bennet. Murrle Bennett was a London company, active from 1884 to 1914, known for crafting lovely jewelry in the prevailing styles

The Arts and Crafts movement was a response to the decline in production standards associated with the Industrial Revolution; its philosophy centered craftsmanship and quality materials. This influential movement originated in the British Isles during the late Victorian period, reforming the design and manufacture of everything from buildings to jewelry.

Details.....The brooch measures 1.55" by .90". In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of the charm.
