Early 1800s Gem Set Silver Filigree Austro-Hungarian Pendant

An amazing level of craftsmanship is evident on both the front and back of this necklace, a quality we appreciate in Austro-Hungarian jewels. Delicate wires of silver are twisted and worked into a gorgeous Day and Night necklace. The two-part pendant is linked by a fold over hook and tab that allows the bottom piece to be removed. A mixture of natural gems and paste, very colorful in shades of purple, red, and green, nestle in closed back settings. Each of the fold over tabs are hallmarked. This type of construction, along with the design, aids in the dating of this piece to the early 1800s. The patina is intact and quite lovely. The sterling silver chain is a modern replacement, this pendant would have originally been worn on a ribbon.

Details.....The double pendant measures 2" long and 0.92" wide. The chain is 18" long. It Good Antique Condition, with a small amount of damage to the filigree. You should always expect some wear on antique and vintage jewelry; we consider it part of the charm.
