This F.H. Adams necklace is enamelled in the ethereal blue and green that was so popular in Arts & Crafts design. The enamel is applied to a bell-shaped sterling silver pendant with a hole in its heart. A bright silver fleur de lis grows through that hole, embracing the enamelled element with its petals. The enamel is deeply saturated in color, mottled with rich blue, green, and turquoise jewel tones, very striking. The pendant is suspended on a simple swag, and hangs on a modern sterling silver cable chain. This piece bears hallmarks for Birmingham and the year 1909. It is also signed "F.H.A.Ld," the maker's mark for Fred H. Adams Ltd, a Birmingham company in operation through the 1910s and 1920s
The Arts and Crafts movement was a response to the decline in production standards associated with the Industrial Revolution; its philosophy centered craftsmanship and quality materials. This influential movement originated in the British Isles during the late Victorian period, reforming the design and manufacture of everything from buildings to jewelry.
Details.....The chain is 19" long. The pendant measures 1.09" by 1.36", 2.32" with swag. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of the charm.
