This exquisite Georgian pendant displays a wafer thin slice of natural agate in an 18k gold cut back collet frame. Cut back collets, popular in the 18th and early 19th Century, are created by cutting away gold from a thick bezel, thus forming delicate "tines" that hold the stone. The translucent agate in this piece resembles tortoiseshell, with rich swirling tones of caramel, cinnamon and chocolate. A jump ring has been added to the decorative bale for ease of wear. Circa 1820.
Details.....The pendant measures 1.12" by 1.50", 1.63" with bale. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should expect some wear on all vintage and antique jewels, it is a part of their charm.
