A Matisse Renoir brooch and earring set with a whimsical artist's palette motif. The jewels are miniature copper palettes, enameled in white with colorful "paint." Copper "brushes" are tucked through the palettes' thumb hole. The brooch fastens with a rollover brooch, and the earrings are clip on. The charming set is signed "Matisse Renoir." Circa 1950.
Copper jewels were all the rage from the late 1940s to the mid-1960s. From designer firms like Renoir and Matisse to small studio artists, this trend produced fabulous wearable art.
Details.....The brooch measures 4.26" by 1.73". The earrings are 1.83" by .77". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should expect some wear on all vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of their charm.
