Plique-à-Jour Enamel & Pearl Arts & Crafts Necklace

Pearls and plique-à-jour enamel embellish this exquisite Arts & Crafts necklace. The pendant is an open sterling silver shield, enamelled in green and blue; light shines through the transparent enamel, creating a stained-glass effect. A silver wave swirls through the glass. Three blister pearls bloom on silver reeds, like pussy willows. Tiny seed pearls accent the design. The pendant is suspended on a simple swag, and hangs on a sterling silver cable chain. Stylized natural forms and fine craftsmanship elevate this lovely piece. Circa 1910.
