These earrings are a fever dream of green roses blooming amidst iridescent briars, strange jewels from the incomparable couturier Elsa Schiaparelli. Molded green glass roses and Aurora Borealis marquise rhinestones spike the thorny silver-tone earrings. Tiny round accent stones twinkle like dew drops. Each clip-on earring is signed "Schiaperelli." Utterly beguiling, and a little bit intimidating. Circa 1950.
Elsa Schiaparelli was a prominent Italian fashion designer. In 1927, she created the house of Schiaparelli in Paris, which she managed from the 1930s to the 1950s. She was celebrated for her surreal designs. Schiap, as she was often known, collaborated with Salvador Dalí and Jean Cocteau, and Coco Chanel was her greatest rival.
Details.....The earrings measure 1.33" by 1.50". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces; we consider it part of the charm.
