This small, sentimental memorial pin features a layer of tightly woven brunette hair preserved under bevel edged glass. The glass is bezel set within a gold sheet frame that is decorated with a curling foliate design and beading. The brooch is secured with a classic Victorian C-clasp. This charming piece was handcrafted in the early Victorian era. It predates the death of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's mourning, and the subsequent fashion for mourning jewels. Therefore, mourning and hair work jewels from this time were less common than they were to become after 1860. In very good condition for its age. Circa 1850.

Sale items are final sales. No returns, no exchanges and no refunds, please.

Details.....The brooch measures 1.35" by 1.02". In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces, we consider it part of the charm.
