This English fob commemorates the first News of the World Championship National Darts Competition. The front of the sterling silver fob depicts a dart board wreathed in laurel leaves. It is enameled in blue with the title: News of the World Individual Championship. The back of the medal is engraved: Area Semi-Finalist 1948 A. Dade. The back of the piece is hallmarked for Birmingham, sterling silver and the years 1947-48. It is also signed with a maker's mark for John Turton & Co. This fob makes an interesting pendant. It will look great worn on one of our Ancient Influences married chains.

The News of the World Championship was one of the first major organized darts competitions, beginning in 1927. It became England's first national darts competition from 1947. That first year Harry Leadbetter beat Tommy Small 2 -1 and won the National Championship. We are proud to note that our Mr. Dade was an area semi-finalist.
