Engraved Gold Bangle Bracelet with Single Diamond

A delightful turn of the 20th Century bangle bracelet, set with a single diamond. The bracelet is a lightweight oval ring of 14k gold, engraved with a row of small round dots on a field of delicate pinstriping. Glittering acanthus leaf engraving embellishes the edges. The bright solitaire diamond is set in a platinum square; in an unexpected turn of events, the diamond-set square also fastens the piece. The gold ring is slightly flexible, and gentle pressure pulls one end of the bracelet out of the square while a slight twist opens the piece to allow for the wrist. The bracelet's interior is hand engraved with the legend "1898 A.B.M. to M.E.M. 1918." Could this enchanting bangle have been a romantic 20th wedding anniversary gift?
