Clever Retro Owl Brooch by Boucher

A clever owl gazes at you quizzically from his tree branch. This sterling silver gilt and rhinestone brooch is a Retro design from Boucher. He is a charming little bird with a stripe of white rhinestone pavé and a bright green rhinestone wing. Negative space suggests his eyes and chest. His beak and claws are bright white silver. A collectible piece, signed with the coveted MB mark for Marcel Boucher. Circa 1940.

Marcel Boucher was one of the 20th Century's finest costume jewelry makers. Born in Paris in 1898. After the end of World War I, he apprenticed at Cartier. He transferred to New York City in the 1920s, where he became fascinated with costume jewelry's endless possibilities. Boucher's pieces were famed for looking real and following the fashions of the day.
