Decadent Art Nouveau Sterling Brooch Set

A set of four matching sterling silver front Art Nouveau brooches; one of the pins is larger, the other three are smaller scatter pins. Lush poppy blooms and a sensual woman are wreathed in voluptuous waves; do the whiplash lines represent her long flowing tresses, or do they represent narcotic smoke rising from the poppies? The woman is represented in profile, her heavy lidded eyes are closed. She wears a headdress that brings French jeweler René Lalique to mind. Women paired with poppies was a very popular motif during this decadent era, and these brooches are a fascinating example of the theme. All four brooches fasten with c-clasp pins. Circa 1890.

Details.....The larger brooch measures 1" by 1.25", the smaller brooches measure .66" by .86". In Very Good Antique Condition. Some wear should be expected on all vintage and antique pieces, we consider it to be part of their charm.
