Did you know the spots on a mushroom are called "remnants of the universal veil?" Researching this fanciful mushroom brooch from Trifari taught us a great deal about mushroom anatomy. Two jaunty mushrooms snuggle up, sprouting from a cluster of faux angel skin coral cabochons. Each pileus (cap) and stipe (stem) are sculpted in gold-tone costume metal. Cabochons of faux lapis lazuli stud the pileus with remnants of the universal veil. Glittering white rhinestone accents bring a little sparkle to the party. This adorable brooch fastens with a rollover pin. It is signed with the Crown Trifari mark on the back. Circa 1960.
Trifari was a very collectible, high-end costume jewelry manufacturer producing during the 20th Century. Designer Alfred Philippe was the head designer for Trifari from 1930 until 1968. Philippe also designed for Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels.
Details.....This brooch measures 1.37" by 1.63". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces, we consider it part of the charm.
