This flirtatious fan fur clip hails from Trifari's Empress Eugénie collection. The lacy fan is crafted in both gold-tone and silver-tone costume metal. Large purple rhinestones are set between the fan's ribs, the ribs are encrusted with sparkling white rhinestones. A black enameled bow is tied around the fan's handle. A fur clip is a brooch that fastens with two long, hinged prongs. The long, sturdy prongs are intended for wear on furs but will work well on any heavy fabric. This highly collectible piece was designed by Alfred Philippe and is marked with the Crown Trifari mark. Circa 1940.
Trifari was a very collectible, high-end costume jewelry manufacturer producing during the 20th Century. Trifari's "Empress Eugenie" jewelry line is a sought-after collection by Alfred Philippe. It is known for its opulent, romantic designs reflecting the style of Empress Eugénie of France. Philippe was the head designer for Trifari from 1930 until 1968, he also designed for Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels.
