Opulent Chinese Lapis & Silver Gilt Filigree Brooch

A vibrant oval of cabochon-cut lapis sits in a Chinese brooch of elaborate silver gilt filigree. The floral silver work is exquisitely lacy and equally ornate on the back as well as the front. The pin fastens with a secure safety clasp. Rich blue lapis pairs well with the golden metal; this piece has an opulent appeal. Circa 1920.

Chinese jewels from the early 20th Century are wonderfully made and highly collectible. During the 1920s, Chinese designs were all the rage in the West. Women adorned themselves in jewelry from China and Western-made jewelry inspired by traditional designs.
