Wild Watermelon Crystal Brooch by Schiaparelli
This Elsa Schiaparelli brooch is wild. Is it a deconstructed peacock feather? A psychedelic four-leaf clover? Four fat watermelon crystals with an impossible indigo color are set within melting loops of arsenic green rhinestones. Bright blue accent stones startle, popping out from unexpected locations. Gold-tone costume metal anchors the piece in reality, the brilliant stones are prong set in the well made, three-dimensional setting. The back of this big, bold piece is signed "Schiaperelli." Circa 1960.
