Gem-studded sterling silver chandelier earrings in the Matl style. Silver rings hang from small round tops; a silver fringe hangs from the rings' bottoms, and a single drop dangles at the rings' hearts. Amethyst cabochons sit in the tops of the earrings, held in pinched bezels. Tiny bits of coral and turquoise are set in pinched bezels on the rings, fringe, and drops. Engraved overlay designs beautify the silver surfaces. Highly articulated, these extra-long earrings have a playful movement. Easy-to-wear posts make the artisan earrings comfortable. Circa 1960.

These Matl-style earrings were made in Mexico but are not stamped with an assay mark that could assist with further identification. "Matl" is the Aztec word for water and here refers to a folk art style popularized in the 1930s by artist Matilde Eugenia Poulat.

Details: The earrings are 2.8" long and 1" wide. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should expect some wear on all vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of its charm.
