Italian St. Anthony Medal in Sterling Silver

A vintage St. Anthony medal with a cool, Mid Century aesthetic. St. Anthony holds the baby Jesus, sensitively modeled in sterling silver. The scene is loving and tender. Their haloes are spiked, reflecting thorny crowns. The legend "Saint Anthony Pray For Us" is incised around the pendant's edge. A jump ring has been added to the medal's bale. The piece's back is stamped "925 Italy," and with a "P" inside a pentagon, which is a sterling silver mark. Circa 1950.

St. Anthony of Padua is the patron saint of lost things: he is also the patron saint of the poor, the elderly, expectant mothers, sailors, travelers, and many other groups and causes.
