Chunky Engraved Silver Ring with Engraved Brass Sphinx

This unusual ring is a riddle, a great chunk of silver set with a brass engraving of a Sphinx. A Sphinx is a mythical creature with the head of a human, the body of a lion, and the wings of an eagle; this particular creature wears a beard and a crown, suggesting it is a Sphinx of the Persian variety. The engraved brass is held, signet-style, in a heavy oval head over a massive band. The silver is engraved all over with Christian symbols: fish and doves, and applied brass crosses on the band. Circa 1920.

Details.....A size 8.25. It cannot be sized. The top of the ring measures 18.5mm by 21.3mm, the profile is 7.8mm tall, and the band is 6.5mm wide. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces; we consider it part of the charm.
